Corporate report: Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc.

Published Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 4:30 a.m. Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc. — The chief executive officer of Mexican brewer Grupo Modelo SAB has resigned from the Anheuser-Busch board. The move comes amid reports that the board is about to consider a $46 billion takeover offer from Belgian brewer InBev. Carlos Fernandez resigned Thursday, effective immediately. That leaves 13 members on the board. Reports in recent weeks have suggested Anheuser-Busch is discussing a business combination with Grupo Modelo to head off the unsolicited offer from InBev. The company's shares were selling for $60.67 at the end of regular trading Friday, down 38 cents.
