James Borden Cobb died Monday, June 9, 2008 in Charlottesville, Virginia after an extended illness. Jim was 61 years old. He is survived by his wife, Dean A. Joyner; his son, Austin D. Cobb of Richmond, Virginia; his mother, Louise Cobb Couvillion of Baton Rouge. Jim was born in Shreveport, Louisiana September 16th, 1946, attended junior and senior high schools in Alexandria, Louisiana, received his B.A. and M.A. degrees at Louisiana State University and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia to attend graduate school at the University of Virginia. In 2001 he took early retirement from United Parcel Service after 26 years with the company as an industrial engineer. A memorial service will be held at the University of Virginia Chapel in Charlottesville, Virginia at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 17th, followed by visiting at the family home... [read full story]
