High school boy arrested for attempting to fatally stab grandma

KUMAMOTO -- A 15-year-old high school boy has been arrested for attempting to fatally stab his grandmother at their home here after being told off for sitting up late at night, police said. The first-year student at a private high school, whose name is being withheld under the Juvenile Law, admitted to the allegations during questioning. "I was feeling stressed out after my grandmother and mother frequently told me off," he was quoted as telling investigators. The boy stabbed his 72-year-old grandmother with a kitchen knife at around 2 a.m. on Monday, leaving her with serious injuries that are expected to take three weeks to heal, local police allege.
