‘Public Enemies’ review: Who is John Dillinger? No idea

Johnny Depp is charming, sure, but the film has no counterpoint, no insight and no focus I'm charming. Michael Mann shot “Public Enemies” mostly with high-definition digital cameras and I have no problem with that. It’s refreshing for someone to not treat the 1930s as some precious porcelain doll, glossed beyond life. Even with a hyper-realistic sharpness it’s still classy and well shot – to a point.
