David Cameron's apology over section 28 is inadequate – on gay rights, his party has been cynical and craven When David Cameron says "sorry" for the witch-hunting section 28 passed by the vengeful Tories in 1988 we gay people should say: "Sorry, don't want your sorry! We want love!" We should say: "Don't come to us for a round of applause, so that you can be proud of yourself. We're proud of ourselves, now we want you to be proud of us." We should say: "Come on Mr Nice Married Man – you are happy to put Mrs Cameron on parade, but why has it taken you so long to actually heed her?" (She has long hated section 28).
