What started as a tightly-knit group of Michael’s immediate family spread to involve the Bishop of Liverpool James Jones, Reds captain Steven Gerrard, pop group Atomic Kitten and politicians Louise Ellman and Arlene McCarthy. It was a campaign supported by thousands of people who marched in Liverpool and London, and refused to stop until what they saw as an horrendous miscarriage of justice was finally righted.
