Council drops school place case against mother

Harrow council had been attempting to prosecute Mrinal Patel for using false address to get son place at popular state school A council which became the first to attempt to prosecute a mother for using a false address to get her son into a popular state school has today dropped its case against her. Mrinal Patel applied for a place for her five-year-old son, Rhys, at Pinner Park first school, in Harrow, north London, last January. The 41-year-old claimed she lived at Willow Court, in Fulbeck Way, Harrow, and had chosen the school because "it was close to home and she could walk", Harrow magistrates court heard.
