Pardon appeal for Shields refused

Jailed football fan Michael Shields has lost the latest round in a long battle to be pardoned over his attempted murder conviction. Football fan Shields was jailed for 15 years in Bulgaria in 2005 after a barman was beaten up. High Court judges ruled Home Secretary Jack Straw had the power to grant Shields a pardon in December. But Mr Straw has now said he is unable to conclude the 22-year-old was "morally and technically innocent". The football fan is currently serving his sentence at Thorn Cross Young Offenders...
