Three make it onto shortlist for Anglo-American chairman role

A shortlist of three candidates for chairman of embattled mining giant Anglo-American has been drawn up with National Grid veteran Sir John Parker tipped as the favourite to take over from Sir Mark Moody-Stuart. One name definitely not in the frame is that of Jim Leng, the former Corus chief who was due to take the chair at rival Rio Tinto before a massive blow up with directors over the company's tie-up with the Chinese. He has been mentioned as a potential candidate alongside Paolo Scaroni, the former boss of glass-maker Pilkington, and Jeroen van der Veer, the departing chief executive of Shell. Shareholders have been warned not to expect an appointment imminently as the process of finding a new chairman could take several more weeks. Anglo declined to comment.
