Dress Barn to buy Tween Brands in $157 million stock deal

Wall Street investors were cheering today after Suffern-based Dress Barn Inc. said it would buy Tween Brands Inc. for $157 million in stock. Dress Barn shares rose $1.37, or 10.4 percent, over yesterday's close to trade at $14.60 at midday. Tween Brand shares rose $1.61, or 31.1 percent, to $6.79 over yesterday's close of $5.18. Dress Barn's offer values Tween Brands at $6.22 a share, a 20 percent premium over yesterday's closing price.
