JD Wetherspoon faces falling profits

JD Wetherspoon has warned it will have to grow comparable sales by 3% by the end of next summer if it is to prevent annual profits from shrinking in the face of climbing fuel and labour costs. Chief executive John Hutson said today: "If we can get to 3% it will be a pretty good performance."
