Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 21--New Summerfield Independent School District's property tax rate won't go up next year. Trustees approved a proposed tax rate of $1.04 per $100 valuation -- the same as last year's rate -- during the regular board meeting held Monday. "Property values are up this year, so we'll collect more local tax revenue," NSISD Superintendent Gregg Weiss said. "Because of that, we'll actually receive less state funds than we did last year, but what we are getting is going to work for us." Trustees also approved a proposed 2008-09 school budget of $4,683,964, as compared to last year's budget of $4,506,526.
