Acclaimed play set to be made into film

A PLAY that confronted the consequences of paedophilia, and became a global hit after premiering in Edinburgh three years ago, is about to be made into a feature film. Blackbird was written by David Harrower, the Scottish playwright whose newest play 365 opens at the Edinburgh International Festival tonight. The New York-based film and theatre producer Jean Doumanian, whose company has produced seven Woody Alle n films and director David Mamet's The Spanish Prisoner, will produce Blackbird. Mr Harrower is to adapt the play for the screen. Blackbird sees a woman confronting the man who had sex with her 15 years before as a young girl.
