Drink-drive mum caught after daughter's pleas to passers-by jailed for 80 days

Aug 22 2008 By Jamie Beatson A DRINK-DRIVER caught when her five-year-old daughter shouted to passers-by to "stop mummy driving" was jailed for 80 days yesterday. The girl was hauled out of the car by a worried adult when it lurched to a halt. But her mum, who was more than four times the limit, drove off - crossing the road, mounting the pavement and smashing a fence at an old folk's home. The unemployed alcoholic staggered out of the driving seat and into a lamppost. She tried to drive off again but a member of the public had grabbed the car keys from the ignition. Social workers have removed the child from the woman's care and she now stays with her grandparents, Falkirk Sheriff Court heard yesterday.
