NAHA, Okinawa Pref. (Kyodo) A former candidate for Miyazaki governor drowned at a beach in Nakijin, Okinawa Prefecture, his employer said Thursday. Tetsuji Mochinaga, 48, died while swimming with his 5-year-old son Wednesday morning, according to police. Last year, Mochinaga lost to Hideo Higashikokubaru in the Miyazaki gubernatorial election. After retiring from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Mochinaga lost two bids, in 2003 and 2005, for a seat in the House of Representatives. We welcome your opinions.
