Police: Jonesboro man kills wife, turns self in

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Police say a Jonesboro man who strangled his wife during a fight over their child later turned himself into authorities. Demetricus Hampton, 36, faces first-degree murder charges in the death Tuesday of Misty Bobbitt Hampton, 30. Judge Keith Blackman set a $2 million bond for Hampton during a court hearing Wednesday. Blackman appointed a public defender to represent Hampton for his first appearance in Craighead County Circuit Court on Aug. 25. Police say Hampton walked into a police station and told officers they needed to go to his home because his wife was injured.
