Kenya: Dioceses Organize Local Events to Mark World Youth Day

Posted to the web 22 July 2008 Nairobi The Catholic Church in Mombasa and Lodwar organised local festivities to mark the 23rd World Youth Day, which was celebrated internationally in Australia. Some 300 youth from the Catholic Diocese of Lodwar animated their special mass at St. Augustine's Cathedral. Thereafter, they processed through the town singing and dancing, carrying a banner that bore this year's theme: 'You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses' (Acts 1, 8). At the Bishop Mahon Centre, youth from various schools presented poems, songs and dances and were addressed by the Diocesan Youth Coordinator, Roseline Aite and their chaplains, Fr.
