McKinney amateur shares lead at Texas State Open

From Staff Reports McKinney amateur Christopher Ward shot a 5-under 65 on Thursday to share the first-round lead at the 38th Texas State Open at the Cascades in Tyler, Texas. Dallas' Ryan Posey and Pablo Acuna of Houston also opened with 65s. Ward, 21, made six birdies, including four on the front side, and one bogey, on the par-4 12th. Posey, 24, who plays out of Lakewood Country Club, was 1 under after 11 but finished with a flourish, birdieing four of his last six holes. Four other golfers were a shot back of the leaders.
