Posted to the web 8 July 2008 Effa Tambenkongho Many people driving through Douala usually made comments such as: "I hate this town", "it stinks, it is hot," "the town is dirty". It has been a town no one would find comfortable or convenient to make an abode. If a worker is told you have been transferred to Douala, it was like hell. In other words some felt they were hated by the bosses and were being punished on transfer. But today the story is changing. If Douala had such bad reputation it was because the town was left to itself. The population contributed in making it dirty because nobody cared about where and how refuse was dumped.
