AUSTRALIA'S only scooter manufacturer, Vmoto, hopes to expand into the European market after making a deal with the world's second largest retailer, Carrefour. The company will initially supply scooters to Carrefour Spain over the European summer and autumn. Vmoto Europe is expected to deliver about 500 units to the Carrefour centres in Madrid, with the first order of 150 scooters to be shipped this week. France-based Carrefour is renowned for its so-called "hypermarket" format that combines a grocery and department store in a large retail complex. Vmoto managing director Patrick Davin said the export deal was a coup for the scooter maker.
