Dubai: The second phase of the Dubai Cares charity campaign starting next October will focus on volunteerism among UAE residents, said the chairperson of the campaign, Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State. "This time we are asking people to donate their time, not their money," she said, adding that although monetary donations will be accepted, they will not be actively pursued. The campaign raised Dh3.4 billion with the launch of the campaign in Ramadan in 2007. Half of the funds were raised by UAE nationals, residents and companies and the other half was donated by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
