This letter has not been edited The nonsense that because Republicans favor more domestic oil exploration - they are attempting to solve our energy crisis is nothing but a dishonest fairy tale. With 3% of the world’s oil reserves, while consuming 25% of the world’s oil - we cannot drill our way out of this situation. It is conveniently ignored that there are hundreds of drilled - and capped wells in Alaska, destroying ANWR for 6 months worth of oil that would take 10 years to extract and would likely be sold to Asia would do nothing for America’s energy crunch. Thousands of acres of offshore waters are already open for exploration - and have not been fully utilized by oil companies.
