By Greg Stutchbury WELLINGTON, July 3 (Reuters) - A true test of how far New Zealand's rugby team has moved on since last year's World Cup will be played out in the opening Tri-nations match against world champion South Africa on Saturday. New Zealand are rebuilding their squad after losing 11 players to retirement or offshore moves and have won all three of their tests so far, against a game but limited Ireland and an overmatched England. The Springboks, again led by inspirational hooker John Smit, have a settled look with 10 players from the World Cup final in their 22-man squad. They proved in their victories over Six Nations champions Wales they have plenty of depth.
