New high-tech U.S. warship is to be commissioned in Baltimore

By: THE ASSOCIATED PRESS BALTIMORE - For the first time in nearly a quarter century, a major naval warship will be commissioned in Baltimore. The USS Sterett, a $1.3-billion missile destroyer, recently left its shipyard in Maine for a month of testing at sea. The Baltimore Sun reports that the warship will stop in Newport, Rhode Island, and Norfolk, Virginia, before sailing to Baltimore harbour for a commissioning ceremony on August 9. The Sterett took four years to build and is among the Navy's most modern destroyers.
