ISLAMABAD, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for attending the sixth D-8 summit on July 8, it was officially announced here Saturday. The D-8, or Developing Eight, are a group of developing countries that have formed an economic development alliance. It consists of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. The group was established after an announcement in Istanbul, Turkey, on June 15, 1997. Combined, the countries make up 13.5 percent of the global population in 1997. On the sidelines of the conference. Gilani would also hold meetings with various heads of governments including the prime minister of Malaysia and the chief executive of Bangladesh, according to a statement from the PM's office.
