A reservation quota for minorities will be provided in low-cost housing schemes, Maharashtra government said today. The houses will be kept reserved for minority community in low-cost housing schemes, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said. "The government wants to bring the minorities in the mainstream and soon the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Reservation Act will be modified," Deshmukh said. Emphasising education, employment, pre-job training and houses for minorities in the state, Deshmukh said more positive steps will be taken for the welfare of minorities. Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil lamented about the plight of Muslim women who do not take up jobs due to lack of education.
