N.C. recommends fireworks caution amid drought

Rodriguez - jrodriguez@thesunnews.com BOLIVIA, N.C. -- It's not like Brunswick County law enforcement officials will be working a state-line patrol today to halt illegal fireworks coming in from South Carolina. But Scott Garner, the county's fire marshal, said Brunswick County residents and visitors need to understand the differences in laws between the two states, and Brunswick County residents have to realize that this year's drought, so far, is worse than it was last year. "There's usually a pretty good number of reports" of illegal fireworks being blown off in Brunswick County, Garner said. "Most are usually vacationers and most are handled with a warning first.
