Zambia's President Levy Mwanawasa has been admitted to hospital after suffering heart problems, according to reports. Health sources said Mr Mwanawasa, 59, who is in Egypt to attend the African Union summit, was admitted to a hospital in the resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh. Mr Mwanawasa expressed understanding for Zimbabwean opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai after he pulled out of Friday's presidential election The summit, due to begin on Monday, is expected to focus largely on the post-election crisis in Zimbabwe after President Robert Mugabe was sworn in on Sunday for a new term.
