The Scud lands in trouble surfing in wild seas

SYDNEY: Former Australian tennis star Mark Philippoussis (pic) suffered hip and feet injuries when he got into trouble surfing in wild seas off Victoria's south-west coast, his agent said yesterday. The former US Open and Wimbledon finalist struck trouble off Bells Beach when he was surfing alone, his agent Rob Aivatoglou told Australian Associated Press. Philippoussis, 31, sought shelter in a sea cave, but had to brave the rough seas again to get back to land, Aivatoglou said. Witnesses told broadcaster Nine Network the former Davis Cup winner suffered hip and feet injuries after being swept into the area being battered by huge waves. Philippoussis' girlfriend was nearby and was alerted to the problem, television reported. Philippoussis was reportedly recovering at his parents' home in nearby Melbourne. His mother said...
