South Carolina reports 9 NCAA violations

Associated Press - July 3, 2008 4:03 PM ET COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The University of South Carolina is admitting to nine secondary violations of NCAA rules between January and June. But the school says only one infraction was considered serious. That one involved an athletic department staffer betting dinner on a game not involving the Gamecocks. That violation goes to the NCAA for review; the other eight will be handled by the Southeastern Conference. South Carolina also reported five positive tests for marijuana from the 207 drug tests performed in the past six months.
