QUINNEY CAN BE NATIONAL HERO

After the fanfare of 2007 when Tiger Woods hosting his own US Tour event at Congressional was major news, the second AT&T National at the famed Maryland venue is a much lower-key affair. Not only is Woods not playing, his knee-injury which flares up on aeroplanes means he won't be on-site either. And with most of the other big names not there either, the front three in the betting are Jim Furyk, Mike Weir and Robert Allenby. Furyk, courtesy of his third place in the inaugural event and also a fifth place in the US Open held at Congressional in 1997, is the favourite but a cold putter and some average finishes of late don't make him an attractive 14/1 shot - even if caddie Fluff Cowan is a member at the course and knows the lie of the land.
