Women Set to Gain From Sh8 Billion Loans

Wilfred Muchire Nairobi Thousands of women entrepreneurs are set to benefit from loans amounting to Sh8 billion from a microfinance organisation. Kenya Women Finance Trust (KWFT) will give the cash to about 200,000 women in various parts of the country by the end of the year, said the organisation's chief executive officer, Dr Jennifer Riria. Denied claims Speaking in Nyeri during the launch of the organisation's Mt Kenya West regional office, Dr Riria denied claims by some political leaders that the Women Enterprise Fund was not assisting women. "I would like to refute the perception that women are not benefiting from the fund. "Our organisation was given Sh140 million to disburse to women and we are about to exhaust the money," she said.
