Man who drove car through Altamonte Mall found innocent by insanity

Rene Stutzman | Sentinel Staff Writer SANFORD - A 20-year-old Seminole County man who crashed his car into the Altamonte Mall during the holiday season by driving down a corridor at about 35 mph until his vehicle dropped from the second to the first floor, was today found innocent by reason of insanity. Adam Kahin was charged with felony criminal mischief. He was not in court today. Since the crash Dec. 11, 2006, he has spent months in a mental facility. He told Altamonte Springs officers the night of the crash that he was trying to kill himself. Two mental health experts for the defense concluded he was innocent by reason of insanity.
