‘Uk Muslims not advanced for Sharia’ By OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT London Oct. 12: Britain’s new minister for race relations Sadiq Khan, who is a Muslim, has said that the Muslim community in Britain is not "advanced" enough to have its own legal system, or sharia courts. Since February 2008, when the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, said that the adoption of elements of sharia in the UK was unavoidable, an ongoing debate has been going on about introduction of Muslim personal law over issues like financial disputes and divorces. Mr Khan replaced Labour MP of Indian origin Parmjit Dhanda as the undersecretary of state in the department for communities and local government in the recent reshuffle.
