He is the TV face of the credit crunch whose dramatic scoop last week wiped millions off the price of bank shares. The BBC’s business editor Robert Peston has broken a string of exclusives on the financial crisis which have led MPs to demand an official investigation into the source of his information. A massive row broke out after Peston reported on Tuesday morning that bank chiefs were seeking capital from the Government at confidential talks with Chancellor Alistair Darling and Bank of England Governor Mervyn King.
