NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander has been digging and excavating Martian soil with its nearly 8-foot-long robotic arm. New images, like this one in 3D, show the trenchwork taken on Oct. 7. Here is a stereo, panoramic view of various trenches dug by NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander. The images that make up this panorama were taken by Phoenix’s Surface Stereo Imager at about 4 p.m., local solar time at the landing site, on the 131st, Martian day, or sol, of the mission (Oct. 7, 2008).
