Republic of Congo, after continued fighting between army, armed group The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon: The Secretary-General is following developments in the border areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda with increasing concern. The continued fighting between the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Congrès National pour la Défense du Peuple (CNDP) of Laurent Nkunda adds to the suffering of the civilian population and risks provoking wider conflict in the region.
