'Rachel Getting Married' Has Arthouses Getting Busy!

There were a few April specialty hits like Overture’s by phone on Wednesday, and she asked me, “Is there such a thing as a boffo arthouse movie. I know that when a Will Smith movie comes out and grosses $40M, it’s a hit, but I don’t know how to measure the success of my movie.” She is quickly learning about the concept of Per Theatre Average (PTA), and she says she has been getting congratulatory calls. That is because this Jonathan Demme-directed character-driven comedy generated $32,597 per theatre on 9 screens last weekend, which is the 5th-best PTA of 2008.
