Oct 10 2008 by Katie Norman, South Wales Echo A PREGNANT woman has Welsh ambulance control operators to thank for the arrival of paramedics at her home – in Nevada, USA. The Welsh Ambulance Service was shocked when a 999 caller requested an ambulance for the woman on other side of the Atlantic. The service’s control room team, led by manager Rachel Burrows, from Pentwyn, Cardiff, took the 999 call from a man in the UK about his expectant American girlfriend who was at home in Nevada. The pregnant woman, who does not have a phone in her apartment, was talking to her boyfriend online on October 2, when she began experiencing pains.
