The grumbling is intensifying behind the scenes from owners and team officials who are watching with mounting dismay as millions pour from successful franchises in Canada and the United States to their staggering partners, mostly in the American sunbelt. According to information compiled by The Globe and Mail from various sources, the six Canadian NHL franchises contributed more than $40-million (all figures U.S.) to their fellow owners last season, and about $50-million when playoff revenues are taken into account.
