EXTENDS TERMS IN OFFICE OF 41 JUDGES ON FORMER YUGOSLAVIA TRIBUNAL With the United Nations new peacekeeping architecture entering its third year of operation, several General Assembly delegates today sought a more active role for the private sector in rebuilding countries torn by years, if not decades, of conflict. During the Assembly’s joint debate on the annual reports of the Peacebuilding Commission and the Peacebuilding Fund, the representative of Brazil said the recent dialogue on the private sector should guide the Commission’s efforts towards bringing companies and foundations into a more active role.
