A scholarship offered by New Zealand’s leading veterinary pathology group will enable vets with experience in production animals to do post-graduate studies in pathology. Dairy Cattle Vets Newsletter September 2008 reports on the Gribbles Veterinary-IVABS Masterate Scolarship in Veterinary Pathology, tenable at Massey University. The newsletter comments: ‘With so much talk about the critical shortage of rural vets, poor retention rates in vet practice in general, and the shift in demography of vets … another potential crisis looms for the vet profession: that of the declining number of vet pathologists, particularly those with production animal experience.’ The scholarship is intended to encourage vet graduates with an interest in vet pathology to do postgraduate studies.
