Pair of Eagles swoop on Scots rugby league world cup squad

Published Date: 08 October 2008 TWO local stars have made it into the 24-man Scotland squad for the forthcoming rugby league world cup in Australia. Dean Colton and Paddy Coupar of Edinburgh Eagles are the only home-based players in the party. Scotland's hopes have been boosted by the presence of Michael Robertson in the final selection for the tournament, which begins on October 25. had been suggestions that Robertson, who plays his rugby for Manly Sea Eagles, had played himself into contention for the Australia squad with his hat-trick of tries in Manly's Grand Final win over Melbourne. His absence would have been a huge blow to a Scottish side already stripped of one world-class winger in Mark Calderwood, who was called up by England, but Robertson is free to play for the Scots after being left out of Australia's party....
