Thiruvananthapuram (PTI): Kerala government on Tuesday decided to set up a 'Kuttanad Prosperity Council' with State Chief Minister as its chairman, for the speedy implementation and monitoring of Rs 4,300 crore Kuttanad package for improving agriculture production. Addressing a press conference after a cabinet meeting, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said Agriculture and Water Resources Minister would be the Vice-Chairman of the council and other Ministers and people's representatives of local area would be members of the council. An official level committee with Chief Secretary as chairman would be set up to co-ordinate and implement the project, which was drawn by a commission headed by eminent agriculture scientist M S Swaminathan Commission.
