Franken opposes bailout

by Mark Zdechlik, Minnesota Public Radio St. Paul, Minn. — DFL U.S. Senate candidate Al Franken today sharply criticized the Wall Street bailout legislation passed last night by the Senate. Franken told reporters he would have voted against the package. Franken is running against Republican Sen. Norm Coleman, who voted in favor of the bailout. Franken says the measure does not tighten regulations on Wall Street, or directly help homeowners facing foreclosure. "I hope nobody in Washington felt any pride or sense of accomplishment, because this bill didn't fix an economy that isn't working for middle-class families," said Franken.
