Torquay lose final on penalties

Torquay United were defeated 5-4 on penalties by Conference South side Eastleigh in the final of the Errea South West Challenge Cup. The shootout came after the sides managed a 2-2 draw in normal time. The Gulls had looked to be slipping to a 2-0 defeat until two goals in the final seven minutes. Youngster Ashley Yeoman got their first after 83 minutes from a Mustapha Carayol cross, with Carayol netting the equaliser soon after. On Saturday Torquay had beaten Yeovil Town 5-3 on penalties, after a 1-1 draw, to make it through to the final. While that match was going on another Gulls XI faced a Chelsea XI at Plainmoor.
