Indian Prime Minister leaves for Japan to attend G8 summit

NEW DELHI, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Monday left here for Japan to attend Group-8 summit. On the sidelines of the summit, Singh is expected to meet U.S. President George W. Bush and discuss progress on the Indo-U.S. nuclear deal. During his stay in Hokkaido island, Japan, he will meet leaders of other countries attending the summit for bilateral issues Singh is also scheduled to participate in an informal meeting of the Brazil-Russia-India-China (BRIC) leaders on the sidelines of the summit. In a statement before his departure, the Indian prime minister said that at the forthcoming summit, he will present India's perspectives on a wide range of global issues.
