Liberia: Quiah Accused of Links With Delta Mining Deal

Posted to the web 3 July 2008 Roosevelt Quiah, former Chairman of the National Investment Commission of Liberia is reportedly in Police custody in Monrovia for allegedly forging the signature of Lands, Mines and Energy Minister Dr. Eugene Shannon. When the press on Monday contacted Minister Shannon, he declined comment and only said he had just returned from work and could not comment, but sources within the Liberian government said some questions are being raised over the authenticity of Shannon's signature. Aides to Quiah appear to say that he may have gotten permission from Shannon to negotiate the deal with Delta as it was Quiah who engineered the Delta Mining deal with Liberia - with the knowledge of Shannon.
