Nigeria: IPI Congress in Belgrade (i)

Posted to the web 3 July 2008 Hajiya Bilkisu (mni) The young immigration officer looked at us with an expressionless face and asked us "which conference you attending here?" We told her we were attending the World Congress and 57th Annual General Meeting of the International Press Institute (IPI). No more questions were asked, she stamped our passports and we headed to town. The International Press Institute is the oldest global forum of editors and media proprietors and it holds its world congress every year in different parts of the world where it has active members. This year's Congress was co-hosted by the IPI National Committee of the Republic of Serbia presided over by Mr Hari Stajner, the Media Centre Belgrade, an ultramodern complex located in the heart of Belgrade with Ms Mirjana Milosevic as the director.
