The Cats homered twice and Lee Gwaltney worked eight solid innings as the Cats defeated Wichita 9-3 in front of a record crowd of 12,457 fans on Friday night at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth. Ed Montague got things going for the Cats in the opening inning as he smacked his first homer of the year into the right-field stands for a 1-0 Fort Worth lead. The Cats added to their lead in the third on an RBI single by Charles Carter. Carter finished the game with two hits and two runs batted in. Wichita pulled to within a run in the fourth on an RBI ground out by Stephen Pearson.
